On Sunday, June 28 at our service in the outdoor church in Sidrabene we dedicated a new font, bowl and ewer, created by a member of our congregation, Ilze Kalniņa.
She writes:
In creating this baptismal piece I wanted it to reflect the meaning of baptism and the clear water of blessing that will be poured into it. So I chose a subtle organic form that reminds me of the movement of water in a brook or the surface of water. The gentle blue glaze, which is blended with differing green, white and blue tones, is like a stretch of water that we see on a bright day when the sun’s rays are reflected in it together with white clouds scudding across the sky.
